The USA Today website 10Best.com, does regular polling and asks it’s readers to vote for the 10 Best of something.  In Arizona, you already have things like the Grand Canyon and Meteor Crater ranking in those lists.  Now, 10Best is running a poll asking which are the best wildlife parks.

We have one of the contenders practically in our backyard, Bearizona.  Bearizona is Another Reason to visit the Williams AZ Area – and of course, the best place to stay is Classy Cabins AZ.  Bearizona is just 10 minutes from your Classy Cabin.  Located at the East end of Williams, and just off the exit on I-40, it’s a quick and easy day trip, with lots to do.  And if you spend part of your day there, you have the rest of the day to shop in downtown Williams, or pick up dinner before heading back.

One reason to make the drive to Flagstaff is to visit the many beautiful and exciting golf courses found in the area. Flagstaff golf courses are among the best in not only Arizona but the entire Southwest. No matter your budget or experience level, you’ll be able to find a course that fits your needs perfectly. Here are the most popular Flagstaff AZ Area Golf Courses that we recommend.

Aspen Valley Golf Club

The Aspen Valley Golf Club designed by Jeff Hardin and Greg Nash opened in 1973. It has a total of 18 holes with slopes from 135 rating. The total tees length is 6,889 yards It is a private golf course which is open from early April to early November. Greens fees average from $60 to $70 daily on weekdays and weekends. This also includes cart rental. It’s located in the beautiful forests of the Ponderosa for beauty beyond compare.

Canyon at Forest Highlands Golf Club

This golf course is far more than a golf club. It is a luxurious retreat and community that is full of top-notch landscaping and grounds. It has a total of 18 holes on a 24 hour secured gate. The course was created and designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish in 1986. It’s located in the mountains and beautiful scenery of Flagstaff.

Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club

This one of the Flagstaff golf courses is beautiful as well as spacious. With a total of 454 acres it’s one of the largest! Created by Jerry Pate who was a U.S. Open Champion himself, it’s a favorite for talented golfers in the area. The course, filled with turns and hills, gives golfers an entertaining experience.

It’s equipped for the most experienced golfers as well as the first-timers. The club allows both residents and nonresidents tee times to the course. The forward tees measure 5,210 yards which is ideal for seniors or youth golfers in any group. The total amount of yards to Championship tees equal 7,160 yards, the ideal option for those scratch golfers looking for a challenge.

Continental Country Club

The Continental Country Club offers members a relaxing atmosphere above all else. There are pristine ponds and beautiful grounds for enjoyable afternoons. There is a store on site as well as great dining that will fit any palate. The club offers more than the ability to have a great game. There is a practice facility on the grounds to get ready for the big game. There is also golf lessons and clinics. Last, there are tournaments held at the club to challenge all players. Memberships are affordable and convenient. This club will fit into anyone’s lifestyle and needs.

Pine Canyon Club

The Pine Canyon Club is more than a golf course. It is a getaway that visitors will never forget. It’s equipped with beautiful grounds and landscapes as well as elegant dining and a spa. The grounds beauty’s seen right away as guests step outside. The whole golf course has beautiful views of the mountains behind the club grounds. There are crystal lakes and tall trees giving shade. There are a total of 19 holes for a game hidden among the most remarkable grounds on any course.

Timberline Short Nine

If looking among Flagstaff golf courses for a shorter course then this is the place to look. It is a shorter course but beautiful still. It’s a family owned course that dedicates itself to its guests. It gives visitors an exciting experience ideal for all ages. The course is good for the most experienced and the little tikes learning. It is open from May through to October.

It is the most affordable option in the area with great views and amazing course. Payment is based on adult and child prices. There are also loaned clubs and balls available upon request. These are with no charge as well. The course also offers group pricing and availability for special events as well. It is an amazing place great for some daytime fun.

Meadow at Forest Highlands Golf Club

This is one of the best places found in Arizona for a day of golfing. It’s voted in the Golf Digest at number 8 throughout the whole state of Arizona. Designed in 1999 by Tom Weiskopf it is one of a kind. It is home to both beautiful landscapes and lakes or ponds as well as wetlands throughout. Not only is it a great course at an affordable price but it offers other incentives as well. This includes a recreation center, pro shop, fitness center, pools and practice center. It has many beautiful wildflowers that littered throughout the course. Where it got its name.

There are many different golf courses found throughout Flagstaff. A couple hours ride from the huge city of Phoenix, it is beauty and relaxation at its best. It’s a way to get away for a little time for a great round of golf!

Flagstaff AZ Breweries – Flagstaff, Arizona is an amazing place to visit – our guest come back year after year to enjoy this amazing city just minutes from our cabins in Williams. A lot of residents in the Valley enjoy the northern drive so they can get a good look at the snow. The shops are quaint, the vacation rentals are sensational, and the city is a lot of fun. Although people come for all of these reasons, the main draw is the craft brewing scene. Once you set foot in downtown Flagstaff you will see breweries everywhere. The beer is actually made right in Flagstaff, and there is no better way to spend an afternoon than strolling from brewery to brewery. Once you have tasted one of these delightful brews, you will simply have to taste them all. Everyone has a favorite, although just as you are certain you have had the best brew of you life, something even more appealing always seems to come along. Below is a list of the local breweries, their locations, the brews they are best known for, and any pertinent information.

Blackbird Porter

The Flagstaff Brewery can be found at 16 Historic Route 66. This is a relaxing and casual pub where the clients are a mixture of vacationers, locals, the old and the young. They have become famous for their Blackbird Porter, and the taste of chocolate in the brew is perfect with the firm hops. This is definitely one of the best craft beers in Flagstaff, and there is usually a story to be enjoyed along with the beer.

3rd Anniversary Ale

No trip to Flagstaff is complete without stopping at Mother Road Brewery. The brewery is located at 7 S. Mike’s Pike Street. This is a relaxing destination, and no stranger to the locals. The most complex beer served is the 3rd Anniversary Ale, and the flavors of vanilla and bourbon combine with a traditional stout base for a flavor that dances on the tongue. This is a sipping beer with a high content of alcohol, so pull up a stool, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Tower Station IPA

Another excellent choice Mother Road Brewery is the Tower Station IPA. The aromas of this sensational hop come from flavors including pine, mango and grapefruit. The finish is both clean and crisp, and extremely enjoyable.

Groveside

Mother Road Brewery also offers Groveside. The clean taste flavored with natural oranges makes this the right beer to enjoy while relaxing with friends. There is even a cask-conditioned version available, and the aroma of cantaloupe will have you coming back for more.

The Flagstaff IPA, Knotty Pine Pale Ale and Humphrey’s Hefeweizen Trio

The Lumberyard Brewery should not be missed, and is easily found at 5 S. San Francisco Street. As soon as you approach this red brick building you will feel a sense of comfort. This is an old building with marvelous renovations, and the brewery is located behind glass. You can sit and enjoy your beer while enjoying all the action taking place in the brewery. This is one of Flagstaff’s hotspots, and where the locals want to be. Three of their top crafted beers are the Flagstaff IPA, the Knotty Pine Pale Ale and Humphrey’s Hefeweizen. These craft beers are all extremely impressive and highly recommended. To make certain vacationers do not miss out on the entire experience, the Lumberyard Brewery offers a sampler platter. This platter was designed to provide what has become known as the Lumberyard experience.

The R&R Stout

Another hotspot in Flagstaff is the Beaver Street Brewery located at 11 S. Beaver Street. This was the original brewery for the founders of the Lumberyard, and the extensive menu features many of the Lumberyard beers. Although most of the craft beers available here can be found at the Lumberyard, there is one incredible exception. The R&R Stout is unique to the Beaver Street Brewery and offers roasted molasses characteristics combined with chocolate in malt presentation. This is one of the best craft beers in Flagstaff, and nearly everyone comes back for more.

Piehole Porter

The Historic Brewing’s Barrel & Bottle House should be one of the destinations on your vacation at 110 S. San Francisco Street. According to Historic, not only is great beer crafted here, but awesomeness is crafted as well. This mantra made certain every brewing tour in Flagstaff would make a stop here. The best of the best is the Piehole Porter. This porter has a very similar taste to a cherry cordial. The entire state of Arizona has talked about this beer, and it is considered to be one of the best offerings in Flagstaff.

Beaches and Ho Ho Holiday Ale

The Historic Brewing’s Barrel & Bottle House also offers a second sensational taste called Beaches and Ho Ho Holiday Ale. This beer is only offered seasonally, and a lot of people travel to Flagstaff for just this beer. It is reminiscent of a freshly cut Christmas tree, and the spruce aroma and spices are absolutely tantalizing. The spices deliver quite the punch because this beer is 7.7 percent ABV.

Hot Chocolate Serrano Stout

While enjoying Flagstaff, make certain to visit Dark Sky Brewing located at 117 N. Beaver Street. This is one of the newer options in the brewing scene in Flagstaff. This brewery is based on true creativity, and there is practically nothing they will not try. Their approach is unique, and they produce 100 different types of beer every year. The opinions of the public determine which craft beers will become permanent additions. The Hot Chocolate Serrano Stout reached new heights due to the decadent chocolate flavors, light heat, peppery aroma and just a hint of roast. This is uniqueness at its very best.

Bloody Hell

Bloody Hell is another creation of Dark Sky Brewing. The taste of a bloody Mary has been achieved with a combination of Roma tomatoes and 6 percent ABV ale.

Marga Wheata Wheat Ale

The creativity of Dark Sky Brewing continues with an easy drinking beer called Marga Wheata Wheat Ale. The fresh lime, Himalayan Sea Salt and 4.3 percent ABV beer may make you think you are drinking a margarita.

Have you been wondering whether you should stay in a vacation rental instead of a hotel for your next vacation?  Well the answer is likely YES, and we’ll talk here about All the Reasons why Vacation Rentals can be better than Hotels.  Chances are you’ve noticed the changes to the travel lodging industry – there are now LOTS of vacation rentals. Vacation rentals weren’t a big business just 10 years ago.  Sure, there were many places where there were plenty of vacation rentals, but now there are over 1.3 Million vacation rentals in the U.S. and over 4.2 Million in Europe.  Why the steep increase? A number of factors made the difference, but the most important was the internet.  Before VRBO was founded in 1995, getting a vacation rental meant dealing with a travel agent to help you find one, and you weren’t too sure what you were going to get.  Sure, if you had already visited an area previously, you might have scouted some out.  But until VRBO, you couldn’t just get on-line and see pictures and descriptions of vacation rental properties.  Once that was possible, things began to change rapidly.

Demand and Supply

Ever since VRBO started up in 1995, owners of vacation rentals had a new way to market their properties.  As the internet took hold and more and more people gained access to, and familiarity with the internet, more and more people were exposed to the availability of vacation rentals- and didn’t need a travel agent to book one!  VRBO arguably started the online market for vacation rentals, but it was followed quickly by Home Away, FlipKey and AirBnB.  Consolidation in the industry has led to big changes in how vacation rentals are marketed.  HomeAway even bought superbowl ad time to introduce millions of people to the idea of getting a whole apartment or house, instead of a hotel to stay in on vacation.

Increasing Popularity

The increased exposure led to increased popularity, as more and more travelers decided to try staying in a vacation rental at least sometimes when traveling.  At the same time, that increased demand prompted more people to turn their properties into vacation rentals.  The industry now expects the global vacation rental market to reach nearly $170 Billion in 2019.

Vacation rentals nearly always include a kitchen, and more than one bedroom.  Since most are full condos, apartments or whole houses, you have all the amenities of a full time residence.  Because of this, you can choose to eat out like you would when staying in hotels, but you can also choose to eat in, cooking your own food.  And staying in to watch a movie is always more comfortable when you have a living room, instead of having to sit on the bed.

When you rent a whole house, condo, or apartment, you’ll get more privacy than you will at a hotel. After all, the whole house is yours to use.  Unless you’ve specifically arranged for it, there isn’t any maid service.  Nobody is coming into your accommodations unless there is something to fix.
